Armor & Toolsmiths Overhaul
Vanilla villager trading often trivializes core Minecraft progression. Handing over a handful of emeralds for a fully forged, pre-enchanted diamond chestplate skips the whole mining and crafting experience. Armor & Toolsmiths Overhaul rebalances Armorer, Toolsmith, and Weaponsmith villagers to make them feel like actual smiths you work with rather than endless gear vending machines.
Instead of buying finished equipment for emeralds, you bring the raw materials to commission custom orders. Master-tier smiths also have a chance to craft Mastercrafted gear, which bestows a special bonus attribute to your piece.
What Changes?
Material-Based Orders
To buy armor or tools, you need to supply the matching raw materials (like diamonds, iron ingots, or leather). If you want enchanted gear, you'll also need to provide catalyst items like lapis lazuli, amethyst shards, or ghast tears depending on the strength of the enchantment.
Trade Management Buttons
Trading screens include buttons to reorder your trades or remove unwanted offers entirely. Dismissing a trade plays a grindstone sound and particle effect so you can keep your trading setup organized.
In-Game Admin Config GUI
Admins can tweak mod settings directly in-game with /ato config or /atoconfig. It uses server-driven chest menus, so players joining from Bedrock (via GeyserMC) can also use the menu smoothly without needing client mods. You can adjust mastercraft rates, toggle enchantment requirements, or restrict mastercrafting to master-tier smiths.
Mastercrafted Gear & Named Smiths
When trading with level 5 Master smiths, there is a chance your item will be upgraded to Mastercrafted:
- Single Stat Buff: Mastercrafted gear rolls one random stat bonus from its pool (such as extra health, armor toughness, speed, or reach).
- Named Smiths: Master smiths automatically get a unique name, which can be changed anytime using a Name Tag.
- Smith Signature: Mastercrafted items keep a gold name and lore tag showing who forged them.
- Dynamic Chance: Unenchanted items won't be mastercrafted. Each enchantment level on the item increases the mastercraft chance by 1% (up to 20% by default).

Getting Started
- Level up an Armorer, Toolsmith, or Weaponsmith villager.
- Bring the required raw metals, gems, and enchantment catalysts to place an order.
- If the smith is a Master and the order has enchantments, you'll have a chance to receive a custom Mastercrafted piece signed by the smith.
