CatalystFX is a lightweight, client-side optimization mod for Fabric that focuses on one of the most frustrating parts of modded Minecraft: long startup times before the game becomes usable.
Instead of aggressively disabling systems or interfering with essential game functionality, CatalystFX applies a small number of carefully scoped startup optimizations. Its goal is to reduce unnecessary work during the initial client launch while keeping Minecraft's rendering, world loading, resource system, and gameplay behavior intact.
✦ What CatalystFX does
⚡ Deferred client DFU optimization
CatalystFX can defer the non-essential optimization of required DataFixerUpper schemas during the initial client boot sequence. This allows Minecraft to reach the usable client stage sooner instead of waiting for every optional optimization task to finish before startup can continue.
The optimization is intentionally limited to the client startup path. CatalystFX does not remove Minecraft's data-fixer system, rewrite world data, or disable required compatibility logic. If older data requires a data-fixer operation later, Minecraft can still process it when needed.
🧵 Controlled background-thread usage
CatalystFX also provides a configurable background-thread reservation policy. This allows users to decide whether Minecraft should prioritize maximum background throughput or leave processor capacity available for the Android launcher, rendering thread, audio system, and other device services.
On powerful devices, the default configuration can provide high background throughput. On mobile hardware, reserving one processor may improve perceived smoothness in some situations by reducing contention with the render thread.
📱 Designed with Android in mind
CatalystFX is especially useful for PojavLauncher, Mojo-style environments, ARM64 devices, and systems with limited memory or slower storage. It is also suitable for desktop players who want a lightweight startup optimization without installing a large optimization suite.
CatalystFX does not attempt to hide or globally suppress native-library, OpenGL, authentication, resource, or launcher errors. Those systems are left intact so compatibility problems remain diagnosable instead of being silently ignored.

✦ Configuration
CatalystFX works out of the box with its optimized defaults. Advanced users can customize its behavior using JVM system properties.
Enable or disable deferred DFU optimization
-Dcatalystfx.lazyDfu=true
This is enabled by default. To restore the vanilla client startup behavior:
-Dcatalystfx.lazyDfu=false
Reserve processor capacity for smoother mobile operation
-Dcatalystfx.reserveCores=0
The default value is 0, which prioritizes background throughput. On Android devices, users may test:
-Dcatalystfx.reserveCores=1
This does not guarantee a shorter total loading time, but it may improve responsiveness by leaving one logical processor available for the render thread and other launcher services.
✦ Compatibility
CatalystFX is a client-side Fabric mod. It is intended for Minecraft 1.21.10 and requires Java 21 in that environment. It does not need to be installed on a server for multiplayer use.
For the best results, keep CatalystFX together with a properly configured Fabric installation and compatible versions of your other client-side mods. CatalystFX does not replace renderer-specific optimizations, launcher configuration, native library fixes, or resource-pack optimization.

CatalystFX is recommended for players using Android launchers, ARM64 devices, compact modpacks, or systems where Minecraft spends a long time waiting during client initialization. It is also useful for players who prefer a minimal startup-focused optimization rather than a large collection of overlapping performance mods.
✦ Important note
CatalystFX is designed to reduce unnecessary startup waiting, not to remove every initialization step. OpenGL/LTW setup, native library loading, audio initialization, resource atlases, shader systems, authentication, and mod-specific initialization may still affect total launch time depending on the device and launcher configuration.
