This mod will NOT be recieving Forge ports going forward, only Fabric and NeoForge.
Most versions are in BETA. You may experience bugs. I lack the requisite time to thoroughly bugtest on a server-environment so issue reports are much appreciated.
What This Mod Does + How It Works
Breaking stonelike blocks has a chance of triggering a cave-in. The screen will shake and you will hear a rumble as stone begins to crash down, harming players and mobs in its path and leaving dust in its wake.
The cave-in spreads outward, chasing you as you flee, leaving behind rubble. There are 5 cave in size ranging from small to gargantuan. The range is rarity based, with small cave-ins being far more common than gargantuan. Player-placed blocks are safe. Collapsed blocks don't drop, they crumble into cobblestone and gravel, leaving mounds of rubble in their wake.

Configuration Options + Commands
You can configure this mod as you'd like to. You can tweak cave-in frequency, size, cooldowns and affected blocks. The mod comes pre-configured to default values that are balanced and intended to be not annoying or overbearing.
/triggercollapse forces a collapse of any size on a player's next block break.
/cavecooldown checks how long until a player can trigger another natural cave-in.
Roadmap + Bugs/Feedback
Going forward this mod will NOT recieve Forge ports and will only be available on Fabric and NeoForge. This mod is being backported to 1.20.1 and 1.21.1, however new features will NOT be added to backports and will only be added to recent versions.

This mod was inspired by Cave-Ins by Lettooce which is a fantastic datapack that everyone should try. The mod differs from mine in approach, but without that datapack causing some of the funniest memories me and my friends have had on Minecraft, this mod wouldn't have been made.
