Dreadful Winter
Surviving the cold should be a bit more annoying than just strays!
Dreadful Winter adds a configurable frost system that makes snowy environments far more dangerous. Stay warm by carrying a torch or standing near light sources—or slowly freeze as the cold overtakes you.
✨ Features
Frost Buildup
- Frost builds up during snowstorms.
- Ambient frost slowly accumulates in snowy biomes, even without a storm.
- Above Y = 150, ambient frost accumulates in every biome.
- Three frost stages:
- Mild Frost
- Severe Frost
- Very Severe Frost
Frost Effects
When your frost bar becomes full:
- Slowness is applied (no particles).
- Vanilla Powder Snow freezing overlay appears.
- Powder Snow freezing damage begins.
How to [ UN ] frost
Reduce frost by:
- Holding a Torch (or anything that makes sense).
- Standing near a light source with a light level greater than 11.
As your frost drains, the freezing effects disappear.

- Armor frost resistance (maybe leather can be useful?)
- Vision blurring (like ColdSweat maybe?)
- More biome-specific behavior (idk what i'm gonna do, but i'm ballin')
