Free Spirited: Be the spirit of your world!
This mod aims to immitate the fantastic movement from the beloved Metroidvania "Ori and The Blind Forest", letting you explore your world with much more freedom!
Main Goals: Following the recent development of all the stunning, large terrain generation mods such as Larion and Tectonic, players have become increasingly fatigued while attempting to cross the terrain without external help such as teleporters and mounts, which skip movement entirely. Free Spirited aims to instead turn the act of travelling ITSELF the fun part like Parcool on top of providing the verticallity needed to conquer the heights and leap across ravines!
Disclaimer: This is still in early development; expect heavy bugs and no visuals (yet). Currently, the mod is in a heavy reworking stage to lay the right foundations. And no, this is not and will NEVER be a vanilla+ mod as it heavily modifies the way you interact with the world!

The mod has(for now):
Coyote jumps: you gain a momentary timeframe(5 ticks) to still jump even after stepping off a block for a while
Air control: while airborne, you can freely adjust your movement instead of being locked in a direction like vanilla to maneuver across poles and cliffs with ease, gaining momentum mid-air
Jump polling: jump higher the longer you press your jump key! For instance, you can just tap to jump normally, or hold it to jump 2 blocks up! it solves the issue of the annoying head jumps in a small space whilst still giving you the freedom to leap over fences, neat!
Double jump: self explanatory! but you can reset it by touching a wall to jump again on air
Wall slide: an automatic feature where you will start descending slower when in contact with a wall, but beware that you will still keep your falling momentum (will trigger if you are actively pushing against a wall! So don't worry about tight corridors)
Wall jump: unlike normal wall jumps, it pushes you away from the wall to let you reposition better with Air control (only while no movement is applied or if you're actively pushing against the wall!)
Dashing: free, fast, and quick dashing skill that can be spammed on ground but used only once mid-air, resetting with touching walls to use it again!
Bashing: a unique feature from the Ori games where you take a projectile or an entity to leap BASH off of them to launch yourself into your desired direction, would be useful against skeletons and other projectile throwers! you can also bash lodged arrows to send it back at the enemy, or shoot your own arrows to a ceiling to bash!
Controls:
- spacebar: for wall jumping and double jumping, jumping on water surfaces, and jumping off of climbing blocks
- Ctrl: dash key
- R: special(bash) key
- Shift: submerge underwater on the surface, swim faster underwater, and hop to a nearby climb block
features to be added:
Progression system: instead of gaining all these abilites, you will slowly unlock them permanentally one by one though a skill tree and doing certain quests and tasks. These will be base abilites, kept no matter what.
Upgrading: enchantments on your armor to upgrade the base abilities you have gained to your fit, but you will still lose them upon death.
Custom water movement: instead of vanilla's old boring movement, you instead swim even without sprinting underwater, and hover near the surface of the water without having to spam spacebar. Your swim speed will be maximum without slowing down, but it's turn degree will be limited (and can be upgraded by depth strider!), as well as your falling momentum getting clamped to set degree. If below the surface by 4 or 3 blocks, you automatically float upwards if not moving.
Water dashing: unlike normal dashing, it's duration will be longer on top of it being more controllable! You can look at a nearby water source to dash into the water, or dash outside the water to exit with momentum, like riptide that you can control (and without damage)
Custom climbing controls: locks you to the center of the climbing block, forward and backward movement keys only move you up and down. You press the jump button to jump off of the climbable block, or shift towards a climbing block right next to your current one by pressing shift
Custom effects: plans to use the Photon VFX mod to implement custom visuals to the movement abilites, as well as...err...hopefully add sound effects
Custom animations: utilizing Customizable Player Models's API, you will be able to play custom animations for your player through the mod. Though I plan on also using Player Animator to add animations to the mod too.
It will take quite a long time to develop, but there's still much more planned! Hope you enjoy the mod, and be sure to report any issues to me

For Modpack creators and Server owners: If it's not a modpack for a paid server nor any servers with microtransactions (no matter how popular the server is or how large it is), as long as it is for absolutely free and non-paid usage (in-server currencies earned through gameplay, blah blah), you are fully allowed to use the mod in your modpack/server as long as proper credit is shown.
It is forbidden to fork, crack the mod's source code, or claim it as your own.
