Most horror mods add a monster. This one adds a state of mind, and then gives it something to send after you.
While you can see it, it cannot move.
Dread
Every player carries a hidden value from 0 to 100. It's recomputed twice a second on the server, and the client never guesses at it, it only reacts to what it's told.

Four stages
| Dread | Stage | What changes |

| 25–50 | Unsettled | A vignette starts closing in. Cave ambience fires far more often than it should. |
| 50–75 | Afraid | A heartbeat, paced to your dread. Sounds arrive from spots a few blocks off to your side. |
| 75–100 | Hunted | The dark can bind something to you. |
If you play it safe, you will never see this mod. It stays completely invisible until you've earned it, no ambient jumpscares fired at a calm player standing in a lit base.
The Watcher
Once you're Hunted, it spawns 14–22 blocks out, in darkness, deliberately preferring places you are not currently facing. The first sighting is always a surprise.
Then it obeys one rule. Look at it and it stops dead, no pathing, no walk cycle, not even an idle sway. It's rendered at zero block light, so it stays a flat silhouette with two pale eyes even while standing next to your torch. Look away and it walks. Look away at distance for long enough and it doesn't walk at all, it simply arrives closer.
It cannot be fought. Hitting it deals no damage. It only raises your dread and tells it exactly where you are.
What actually works:
- Light , level 13 or brighter drives it off instantly
- Calm , let your dread fall below 55 and it loses interest
- Nerve , outlast it for about 90 seconds
If it reaches you, it doesn't kill you. It blinds you, buries you in Darkness and Weakness, pins your dread to maximum, and leaves.

Works in singleplayer and on servers. Dread is tracked per player, and having someone nearby genuinely calms you both down, the mod is meaningfully different with friends.
