Heed the Light
The dark is dangerous. Stay in darkness too long, and it will start to hurt.
Heed the Light adds a simple, brutal mechanic to Minecraft 1.20.1: when you linger in low light levels (6 or below by default), a brief grace period begins — and when it ends, the darkness starts dealing damage. The longer you stay in the dark, the harder it hits. Keep a torch in hand. Watch the edges of your screen. The darkness is watching you back.
Features
- Darkness damage that ramps up — after the grace period, damage is dealt every few ticks and gets stronger the longer you stay out of the light
- Subtle vignette warning — the edges of your screen darken during the grace period and intensify as the damage ramps, so you always know how much trouble you're in
- Fully configurable — light threshold, grace period, damage interval, base damage, ramp rate and damage cap are all adjustable
- In-game config screen — settings can be changed through Mod Menu (Cloth Config),
or directly in
config/heed_the_light.json - LambDynamicLights support — dynamic light sources count toward your light level
