About
lestx's Rarity Keep lets you choose what you keep when you die. Rare gear, enchanted tools, or anything you name stays with you. Everything else drops the way it normally would.
Vanilla only offers two extremes: lose your entire inventory, or turn on keepInventory and remove the risk completely. This mod sits between them, so dying still costs you something without wiping out the things you spent hours building.
Features
- Keeps rare, epic, and enchanted items by default
- Individual toggles for each rarity
- Keeps renamed, re-lored, trimmed, or otherwise customized items
- Keep or drop specific items by ID or item tag
- One set of rules for every dimension, or separate rules per dimension
- Returns kept items to their original inventory slots
- Works with Trinkets for equipped accessory slots
- In-game settings screen through Mod Menu
Why use this mod?
Full inventory loss punishes long trips and rare gear far more than it punishes the mistake that killed you. Turning on keepInventory removes the consequence entirely. Neither one feels right on a long-running world or server.
Rarity Keep lets you decide where the line sits. Keep your netherite and your elytra, lose your cobblestone, and death still means something.
Notes
- This mod changes what drops on death; it does not add items or blocks
- Vanilla
keepInventorytakes priority, and this mod does nothing while that gamerule is on - Curse of Vanishing and other destroy-on-death effects are still respected
- For multiplayer, install it on the server, since the server controls death and inventory
- Mods that also save or restore death inventories, such as grave or soulbound mods, can overlap with this one; test the combination before using it on an existing world
- Make sure you install the correct Minecraft version, mod loader, and any required dependencies listed on the version page
