PatPat Fix
An addon for the PatPat mod that syncs pats between players even when the server doesn't have PatPat installed at all (no mod, no plugin).
Normally PatPat syncs between players only if:
- the server itself runs the PatPat mod (Fabric server), or
- the server runs the PatPat Plugin (Bukkit/Spigot/Paper), or
- players have ProxLib + a voice chat mod with proximity packet support
PatPat Fix adds a fourth way, independent of the server: the client sends the pat event straight to an external relay server, which forwards it to other players on the same server. No admin rights, plugins, or mods are needed on the server side.
How it works
- You pat a mob/player as usual
- The addon intercepts that event and sends it to the relay server over WebSocket
- The relay forwards it to every other player on the same server who also has the addon installed
- Their clients play the animation and sound - exactly as if the pat had arrived normally from the server
Requirements
- Fabric Loader
- The original PatPat mod (required - this addon does nothing without it)
- Java 21+ (for 1.20-1.21.11) / Java 25+ (for 26.1-26.2)
- Access to a relay server (your own, or one someone else has pointed you to)
Installation
- Install Fabric Loader
- Put the original PatPat in your
mods/folder - Put PatPat Fix in your
mods/folder - Launch the game and join a server
Configuration
Through ModMenu (1.20-1.21.11 builds), or with chat commands:
/patrelay status — show current mode and relay address
/patrelay mode websocket — enable relay mode
/patrelay mode packet — fall back to PatPat's built-in proximity packets
/patrelay host <address> — set the relay server address
/patrelay enable / disable — toggle the addon on/off
Running your own relay
The relay is a small open-source Node.js WebSocket server you can self-host on any VPS. Rooms are formed automatically by the Minecraft server address - players on the same server automatically end up in the same room.
Versions
- 26.1 / 26.2 - no ModMenu settings screen yet (Minecraft's GUI render pipeline changed in 26.x; the screen will be ported later); configure via
/patrelay - 1.20 - 1.21.11 - full ModMenu settings screen included
