Place Anywhere
An addon for Place Anywhere Core that adds a free placement mode with aviation-style rotation controls, allowing you to place and rotate blocks at arbitrary angles and decimal positions using an intuitive mouse-and-keyboard interface.
Features
Free Placement Mode
- Press G to toggle free placement mode. When active, both left-click and right-click place blocks — no more accidental mining.
- Blocks are placed at decimal coordinates snapped to the surface you're looking at, using the full power of Place Anywhere Core's free block system.
Aviation-Style 3-Axis Rotation
- Press V to cycle through three rotation axes following the Tait-Bryan ZYX convention (standard aerospace order):

| Pitch (X-axis) | Tilt forward/backward — like an aircraft nose up/down |
| Roll (Z-axis) | Bank sideways — like an aircraft rolling |
- Mouse scroll wheel adjusts the selected axis: 15 degrees per tick, or 5 degrees per tick while holding Shift for fine adjustment.
- All angles are continuous — not limited to vanilla's 90-degree snaps. Place blocks at 37 degrees, 12.5 degrees, or any angle you want.
Placement Preview
- A wireframe ghost block shows exactly where and how the block will appear before you place it.
- Green wireframe when placement is valid, red wireframe when it would overlap an existing block.
- A second wireframe renders the block's actual collision shape (useful for slabs, stairs, fences, etc.).
Overlap Detection
- Full OBB vs OBB and OBB vs AABB collision testing using the Separating Axis Theorem.
- Placement is blocked if the new block would intersect any existing free block or vanilla block.
- A chat message warns you when placement is rejected due to overlap.
Y-Axis Offset
- Press Page Up / Page Down to move the preview block up or down by 0.5 blocks per press, for precise vertical adjustment.
Instant Reset
- Press R to reset all rotation angles and Y-offset back to zero instantly.
F3+B Debug Hitboxes
- When the vanilla debug hitbox display is active, all free blocks within 32 blocks render their collision outlines — including rotated OBB wireframes for blocks with non-identity quaternions.
General Free Block Interaction (Mode Off)
When free placement mode is off, the mod still provides:
- Left-click on a free block to mine it.
- Right-click on a free block to interact (open containers, use buttons/doors) or place a new block on the hit face.
Smart Controls
- Scroll wheel is captured while in free placement mode — no accidental hotbar slot changes.
- 200ms cooldown on right-click to prevent rapid-fire placement.
- Floor clamping — the preview can't clip below your feet.
- 6-block reach distance (matching vanilla).
- Works with multi-block structures (doors and beds).

Active Version
Only the 1.21.1 Fabric build is actively maintained. Legacy versions (1.18.2 through 1.20.6) for both Fabric and Forge are available as historical releases but will not receive further updates.
