RPG Chat — a chat mod that finally doesn't look like the vanilla version
Tired of the chat being just a gray wall of text at the bottom of the screen? Me too. That's why I made a mod that displays messages in the center of the screen—it looks great and lets you customize it to your liking.
What it does:
Messages pop up in the center of the screen on a darkened panel, instead of being hidden in a corner Each player has their own avatar (a head from their skin) next to their nickname Nickname color is selected from a color wheel—not just the 16 standard colors, but any RGB value You can enable or disable square brackets around the nickname and the colon after it—to suit your style Everything is customizable: window scale, background transparency, how long a message stays visible, head size, and the spacing between the head and the nickname A separate chat history window—it scrolls infinitely and automatically scrolls down to new messages if you were already at the bottom Everything is designed with a dark glass theme; no white menus from the 2010s A "Reset to Default" button in case you messed something up
How to open settings: there's a dedicated key (K by default, which you can rebind in the control settings)—it opens the chat history, and from there, a single button takes you to the settings.
Tested on Forge 1.20.1. This is a client-only mod; it doesn't send anything to the server, so it won't interfere with friends who don't have the mod.
Bug reports and feature requests are welcome; I'll keep refining it.
