Smart City Lights

Tired of your builds looking dead at night because every light is either always on or always off? Smart City Lights adds lamps that behave like real people live behind them: flicking on and off on their own schedule, misbehaving like a faulty circuit, lighting up only when someone walks by, or just glowing on a custom time range you set yourself. Drop them into a build and forget about them — they'll do the rest.

Mod Features

• 7 ready-to-place lamps:
  • Day Lamp, Night Lamp, Flicker Lamp, Presence Lamp, Custom Lamp — full block, same footprint as stone.
  • Street Lamp & Pedestrian Lamp — real lamp posts (not full blocks), for lining streets and paths. On by default from dusk till dawn.
• Lamp Pole — a plain decorative post with the same profile as the street/pedestrian lamp. Stack as many as you need, then cap it off with a lamp to raise it to any height.
• A fully in-game lamp configurator — no config files, no external tools:
  • Right-click in the air to craft a brand-new custom lamp with your own settings.
  • Right-click an already-placed lamp to open the same GUI pre-filled with its current settings, and save your changes straight back into it (or into its entire sync group, if it belongs to one).
  • Smooth drag-and-scroll sliders for every numeric value — intervals, flicker chance, burst length/gaps, presence radius, hold time, custom time range. No clunky fixed steps.
  • Trigger switch: Schedule vs. Player Presence.
  • Active window switch: Day / Night / Always / Custom time range — set your own start and end hour, with full support for overnight ranges (e.g. 10 PM to 6 AM). Works with both trigger types.
  • Schedule behavior: Steady, Voltage-Flicker (with a configurable resting state — bursts always resolve back to it, no random "stuck" frames), or Constant (just on/off with the active window, no timer at all).
  • 15 built-in presets cycled with a single button, including street lighting and a custom-range demo.
  • Sectioned layout with color-coded dividers (schedule / flicker / presence / custom time) so the form only shows what's relevant to your current settings.
• A lamp visually shows its own configuration — its appearance updates to match whatever behavior it's currently running, regardless of which lamp it started out as. Reconfigure a Day Lamp into a flicker light through the GUI, and it'll look like a flicker light too.
• Lamp Linker tool — right-click one lamp to mark it, right-click a second to link them into a synchronized group. Add as many lamps as you like; the whole group switches on and off together, on a shared schedule. Sync groups are saved with your world and survive reloading or restarting the server.
• Presence mode — a lamp lights up when a player steps within a configurable radius (1–24 blocks) and stays lit for a configurable hold time after they leave (0–60 seconds). Perfect for hallway or motion-sensor lighting.
• Fully independent behavior per lamp — even lamps copy-pasted with WorldEdit behave differently from one another, thanks to per-position random seeding.
• Multi-language support out of the box: English, Russian, and Belarusian.

🔧 How it works

Every lamp keeps its own internal timer and decides for itself when to flip states — no two lamps (outside a sync group) ever tick in perfect lockstep, so a street or building full of them genuinely looks alive rather than looping.

Lamps linked with the Lamp Linker are the exception: they share one schedule computed once per world tick, so they flip in perfect unison — ideal for a row of windows that should light up together, or a street lined with lamps.

Performance note: Presence-mode lamps check the distance to every player in the world once per tick. This is completely fine for dozens or even hundreds of lamps. If you're placing thousands across a large map, keep this in mind — an optimized check-every-few-ticks build is planned.

📦 What's in the box

Good to know

• Sync groups created with the Lamp Linker are stored per-dimension alongside your world save, so they survive world reloads and server restarts.
• All textures ship as clean, readable placeholders — the mod is built to be reskinned by resource packs without any extra setup.
