Stonecutter Sifting
Stonecutters are often left behind after their normal cutting recipes are no longer needed. Stonecutter Sifting gives them a second, lasting purpose: drop supported block-items directly onto a Stonecutter to turn them into useful resources. Each Stonecutter processes one input every four ticks.
It is designed for OneBlock, SkyBlock, superflat, and other limited worlds. In these worlds, common blocks can pile up while important materials become locked behind scarce or RNG-dependent world access. Sifting makes those blocks useful again by creating renewable, chance-based routes to the resources players need, while keeping normal progression meaningful.
What can be sifted?
| Input | Main rewards |
|---|---|
| Sand / Red Sand | Desert plants, terracotta, and gold recovery |
| Gravel | Flint and weighted mineral extras, including a 1% Diamond chance |
| Dirt / Podzol | Seeds, saplings, and early vegetation |
| Rooted Dirt / Moss | Lush Caves vegetation |
| Clay / Mud | Aquatic and mangrove vegetation |
| Soul Sand / Netherrack / Blackstone | Nether crops and resources; Netherrack has a 0.01% Ancient Debris chance |
| End Stone | Chorus and End building resources |
Recipe viewers
JEI and EMI are supported. They show the full outcome table and the chance for every possible result, including the chance of receiving nothing.
Modpack support
The empty #stonecutter_sifting:non_overworld_saplings item tag lets modpack authors exclude saplings from other dimensions. Compatible modded Overworld saplings otherwise join Dirt's surprise pool automatically.
