The Goal Book
Minecraft has a lot to do, but after playing in a world for a while I often miss having a reason to work toward something specific. I made The Goal Book to add long-term goals without turning the game into a completely different progression system.
Craft the book, right-click it and you will get a custom advancement-style screen filled with goals. There are currently 139 goals, split between Basic, Advanced and Endgame difficulties.
The goals are meant to be varied. Some ask you to explore, fight bosses, breed animals, build up a food collection or complete advancements. Others have you create factories, storage networks, workshops, equipment collections and other larger projects. I tried to avoid making every endgame goal the same task with a much bigger number. They should take time, but still feel possible and fun to finish.
How it works
- Craft a Goal Book using 1 Book, 1 Diamond and 1 Gold Block (shapeless)
- Right-click the book to open the goal screen
- Hover over a goal to see its description, progress and reward
- Hold Shift while hovering to see every exact requirement
- Click a completed goal to claim its reward
Item requirements are remembered once you acquire them. You do not have to keep every required item in your inventory or collect everything at exactly the same time. You can store, use or upgrade an item afterward and the requirement will stay completed.
The Museum of Impossible Things is the one exception. Its 12 rare exhibits must actually be together in your inventory when you complete the goal. This is the ultimate vanilla end-game goal.
Goals based on Minecraft statistics also use your existing progress. Distance travelled, blocks mined, animals bred, mobs defeated, fish caught, villager trades, raids and other statistics can already count when you first open the book.
Rewards
Every goal has a reward that can be claimed from the book. Rewards are based around the goal you completed and can include useful materials, rare items, trophies, equipment and experience.

All integrations are completely optional. None of these mods are required to launch The Goal Book. If a supported mod is not installed, its category and goals are simply hidden.
Compatibility
- Required on both the client and server in multiplayer
- Goal progress and claimed rewards are stored per player on the server
