Wall Crawlers
Walls used to be enough. Not anymore.
Wall Crawlers adds the Climber — an undead woodworker that doesn't stop at the bottom of your wall. When it can't walk to you, it builds a ladder and climbs. Box yourself in, wall off your base, dig into a hillside — if there's a wall between you and the Climber, it'll scale it and drop in after you.
How it works
- The Climber is a zombie-like mob (it chases, burns in daylight, the usual) with one extra trick: when its path to you is blocked by a wall, it lays down temporary ladders and rides them up and over.
- It actually reaches you. It will climb the wall around your base or scale the lip of the cave you're hiding in. Simple walls no longer keep it out.
- The ladders rot away. Every ladder it places removes itself after a few minutes, so your base never ends up permanently scaffolded — the siege cleans up after itself.
- Light on performance. No constant world scans and no per-ladder ticking entities — the climb logic only runs when a Climber is genuinely stuck against a wall, so it won't drag your game down.
Getting one
Climbers spawn naturally at night across the overworld. Grab a Climber Spawn Egg from the Spawn Eggs tab to try it out.
Compatibility
- Minecraft 1.21.11, Fabric (requires Fabric API). Self-contained — no other dependencies.
Roadmap — coming in next week's update
This release nails the core: the Climber beats simple walls and digs you out of caves. Next week:
- Smarter pathfinding (Tier 3) — so it can outthink clever bases: pick the right face of an L-shaped or multi-wall build, climb up, cross the top, and drop in. (Right now an overhang or a tricky multi-face base can still outfox it — fair play until the update lands.)
- Other mobs follow — once a Climber has built a ladder, other pursuing mobs will use it too.
- Natural night spawns so they show up on their own, not just from the egg.
Modpacks are welcome — no need to ask. Please don't re-upload or redistribute the mod outside its official pages.
